OUR TEAS...

...EVERYDAY with TEA...

'Entertaining with Tea' is not just drinking and sharing scones.  We like to think that the "Art of Taking Tea" is a much 'bigger picture'.  Here we will always include recipes, table decor, room design, crafts, party favors for your guests to take home after the tea party, and special days to celebrate each month.  Then we will make suggestions for the perfect tea to go with the perfect menu.

Check out our Monthly Tea Calendar page for other ideas for celebrating special occasions and enjoying time with friends.

Valentines Day is a great time to have a tea party. We have collected the best Valentines Day crafts and recipes on the web for you.

For a great party, begin by making your own invitations and decorations, or order some of our handmade Valentine's Day cards. Take some time to learn about proper table setting and manners. Then you'll need to plan the menu for your tea and gather the ingredients. For fun at your tea, choose some crafts and games.

RECIPES...

CHICKEN SALAD TEA SANDWICHES WITH SMOKED SALMON

3 cups chicken broth or water
2 whole boneless chicken breasts with skin (about 1 1/2 pounds),
 halved
1 cup mayonnaise
1/3 cup minced shallot
1 teaspoon minced fresh tarragon leaves
24 very thin slices homemade-type white bread
1/2 cup finely chopped smoked almonds (about 2 ounces)

In a deep 12-inch skillet bring broth or water to a boil and add chicken breasts in one layer. Reduce heat and poach chicken at a bare simmer, turning once, 7 minutes. Remove skillet from heat and cool chicken in cooking liquid 20 minutes. Discard skin and shred chicken fine.

In a bowl stir together chicken, 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, shallot, tarragon, and salt and pepper to taste.

Make 12 sandwiches with chicken salad and bread, pressing together gently. With a 2-inch round cutter cut 2 rounds from each sandwich.

Put almonds on a small plate and spread edges of rounds with remaining 1/2 cup mayonnaise to coat well. Roll edges in almonds. Sandwiches may be made 2 hours ahead, wrapped in plastic wrap, and chilled.

Makes 24 tea sandwiches.

CRAFTS/FAVORS...

Make A Valentine's Day Decoration

You Will Need...

*White, pink, and/or red construction paper

*Wiggle eyes (optional)

*Scissors

*Glue

*Ribbon or yarn

Step One - Cut out two hearts from construction paper. An easy way to cut hearts is to fold the paper in half and cut half a heart. Glue the hearts together as shown above.

Step Two - Cut four rectangles of construction paper for the arms and legs. Fold the rectangles like a fan and release to add some dimension to the arms and legs. Glue the arms and legs to the hearts.

Step Three - Cut out eyes and a mouth from construction paper. You could also use wiggle eyes. Glue on the face. Let the glue dry.

Step Four - Poke a little hole in the top of the head and thread ribbon or string through the hole. Tie the ends of the ribbon or string together. Hang up your decoration and enjoy!

OTHER TIDBITS...

This space-saving table setting is simpler than a formal setting. The fork and the knife beside the plate are used for the main course. The soup spoon is to the right of the knife. The fork and spoon above the plate are for dessert. If other courses are offered, the proper utensils may be brought with them.
